Singapore Airlines unveils iPod connectivity in KrisWorld
SIA has announced iPod/iPhone connectivity for business class customers who will be able to listen to their favorite tunes through the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system!
According to SIA, travelers can enjoy their personal audio and video content from their iPod or iPhone on the newly reconfigured, all-Business Class Airbus A340-500 flights between New York and Singapore starting this week, and between Los Angeles and Singapore from August.
The integrated 9-pin connection on KrisWorld uses a unique in-flight cable that supports the iPod and iPhone via a 30-pin connector, including in-seat power supply and high quality audio. Even with your iPod and iPhone content playing, you'll still be able to hear announcements made by the cabin crew and pilots. Users can also take advantage of the iPhone's airplane mode to safely use the iPhone through the integrated system.
In the last two years, SIA has been making significant enhancements to its products. A senior executive from the company once told me in an interview that it is the aim of the airline to give customers the same experience that they'll get on the ground. Right after, it completely overhauled its cabins across all seat classes in 2006. Last year, it added Sun's StarOffice productivity suite to KrisWorld for travelers to work on their documents stored on USB drives.
Every carrier flies the same kinds of aircraft, it is innovations such as these - and service, of course - that separates SQ from the rest of the pack!
